WLWed: A Momentous Day (And Some Questions)

This week's topic is…

Summer

Now that kids are getting out of school for the summer break, is the change of schedule having an effect on your weight loss efforts?  How can you adapt to the change and still stay on plan?  Remember failure to plan means failure to succeed.  So I hope you'll join us and share your plan!

Something amazing happened today.

I finally passed the 50 lbs mark.  At today's weigh in, I lost 3 lbs.  This brought my total loss to 51.2 lbs.  This leaves me with only 2.6 lbs to lose.

I am overwhelmed.  I'm not sure I ever thought I would see that total.  I now fit into a size that I never imagined wearing again.  I can't believe I'm actually almost at goal.

This leaves me a little thoughtful.  It makes me think about the journey of the last 15 mths.  And it makes me wonder what the fulture will hold for me.

Although I am much, much, much happier with my weight, I know that my overall physique still needs improvement.  There are places that still have extra padding on them that I would like to see flattened.  And I would also like to have more definition in my muscles.

To most people, these are minor issues.  But I am glad I see them.  They keep me going.  They remind me why I get up to go running early in the morning and why I push my muscles to their limit with Pilates.  I don't ever want to be complacent about my health again.

I have decided that I am going to run my first 5K on July 4th.  This will definitely keep me running and working out.  I want to be strong enough to run a good race.  And I don't want to have to worry that I won't finish.  So it is with much fear and trepidation…and a little excitement that I will be registering soon.

I'm also thinking about Weight Loss Wednesday.  Originally I wanted to post about my own weight loss journey.  It was a way to keep me accountable because I knew I would be posting about my journey every Wednesday.  When others shared that they also struggled with their weight, I decided to make it into a meme where others could encourage one another.

I was never looking to make Weight Loss Wednesday wildly popular, but participation has definitely been spotty.  Don't get me wrong.  I have appreciated each of you that have joined in at one time or another.  But with declining participation, I am left wondering if there really is a need for Weight Loss Wednesday.

Now that I have been successful at losing weight, I love encouraging others to do the same.  But it is sometimes difficult for me to post on Tuesday for Wednesday's post.  I want to make sure that I am using my time wisely.

So I'd like to hear from you.  What do you think?  Do you like Weight Loss Wednesday?  Would you like to see it continued as a meme?  Do you like joining in on Wednesday?

What do you like about WLWed?  Do you like having a weekly topic to discuss?  Do you like visiting the other bloggers & checking on them?

What do you not like about WLWed?  What would you change?  Would a different day work better?  I am open to suggestions.

Would you be interested in a Facebook group that could hopefully expand the conversation (and thereby support) into the rest of the week?  How would you feel about going completely to a FB group and dropping the weekly meme on the blog?

So let me know what you think.  And I will carefully pray about the future of Weight Loss Wednesday.

How are you doing with your weight loss goals my friend?  Why don't you join us for Weight Loss Wednesday and share?  Remember…we're all in this together!

It's easy.  Write a blog post about this week's topic and link back to this post.  Then register with Mr. Linky below.  Please know, though, that I reserve the right to delete any link that does not conform to the spirit of Weight Loss Wednesday.  You can also join us on Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag #wlwed.

Also please remember to visit some of the other participants as well.  It's very encouraging to know you are not alone in this journey.

I am Soooooooooo proud of you!! Are you going to be at Type-A? I won't recognize the new skinny you. Now that I am 3 mos post-op I'm re-starting my weightloss journey. I was chosen to be a #cinchspiration blogger :-)

  2. Congrats!! I smiled at needing to flatten one area….move padding around.  I would like to do that but ?? I am happy to see whatever you blog about:)

oh my friend…you have done so well and have encouraged and inspired me so much since i began linking up with wlw! i have been one of those off and on posters but i know how much i would miss it if it was gone! i have always loved popping over to the other bloggers who participate to offer encouragement but more often recieve inspiration! a facebook page may be a good idea…possibly even a replacement for wlw. either way i would just love to see a place where there is a positive, God pleasing place to share this journey!
love ya and praying for you as you make this decision!

Congrats on passing the 50 mark.  That is truely inspirational!
I was doing WLW blog posts during 2011 as part of my "Self" New Year's Resolution.  Although I still have to remind myself to focus on "self" from time to time, my focus this year has turned to something else.  Therefore, although I ALWAYS read your WLW blog posts, I feel that blogging for WLW does not fit in with my current focus.  I do hope that you will continue either through FB or the blog.
BTW, I finished my 2nd half marathon in mid-May.  It was crazy hot, and very hilly.  I did not finish as quickly as I had hoped, but it was still 15 mins faster than my first half.  Baby steps, right?

I am stepping back into weight loss Wednesday.  I would like to see it continue, but understand if you don't keep hosting.  I would be willing to take over so we all, including you, still have a place to check in when we need to…

Well,  as I've said on my blog I've had a lot of stress lately which has set me back a bit in my weightloss.  I am still enjoying checking up on WLW peeps.  I hope to be getting back into the swing of things soon.  I find the various topics helpful.
Suggestions:  maybe you could have guest posts from time to time?  Its always fun to get fresh perspectives.  Facebook is a really popular medium for connecting with people.  Creating a group on fb might get more people involved.
    Thanks!

  10. Congratulations my friend!! You've worked so hard and what a wonderful reward!! You are so inspiring. I love reading your posts, but am happy with whatever you choose to do as long as you keep on encouraging women!! I'm going to work on making a plan for myself that starts next week, being a little more strict with my food and adding a lot of exercise back in. We'll see how it goes! Hugs!

  11. I would like to see Weight Loss Wednesday continue and plan to be a better participant in the future.  It has encouraged me to get myself going.  You also have great questions to make us think and I like that challenge.
