WLWed: Doing the Right Things

We don't have a topic this week.  But since most of you seemed to like having a topic, we'll keep doing it.  But I have to confess that I'm running out of ideas.  So why don't you leave some ideas for me in the comments section….pretty please ;)

Sometimes I have a really hard time understanding the writings of Paul.  But this week I know exactly how he feels.

I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.  Romans 7:15

This is my struggle lately.  And it shows at the scale.  Today I gained the .2 lbs that I had lost last week.

I know what to do to lose weight.  I know how to watch my diet.  I know I need to exercise.  But I don't want to do it.

I do not understand what I do.

Instead I am not doing a very good job at eating the right things and staying away from the bad things.  It's so hot outside that I don't want to walk.  And I'm sure I could come up with a few more excuses.

And so I know how Paul feels…

I do not understand what I do.

I want to lose weight…really I do.

So this week I am going to try to do those things that will help me.  I am going to do the right things.  I'm going to start tracking what I eat…again.  And I am going to find some alternatives for exercise.

Plus I am going to remember that I am in this for the long haul.  These setbacks are only setbacks.  They will not keep me from my overall goal.  I will keep going.  I will lose this weight.

And so will you my friend!

Why don't you link up for Weight Loss Wednesday and let us encourage you?  We're all in this together!

Write a blog post it, referencing this post.  Then link up with Mr. Linky below.  Please know, though, that I reserve the right to delete any link that does not conform to the spirit of Weight Loss Wednesday.  You can also join us on Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag #wlwed.

Next week's topic – What keeps you going when you want to quit?  Is it a friend who encourages you?  A picure of yourself that you despise?  A dress that you want to wear someday?  Or a scripture that inspires you?  I hope you'll join me next week & share!

Also don't forget to leave topic suggestions in the comments.  I need all the help I can get these days ;)

Blessings to you my friends!

    Good Morning!
Some suggestions for posts would be, alternative ways to exercise, especially when its as hot as it is here! Posts of encouragement when we are struggling.  Acceptance in who we are right now and loving ourselves as God loves us:)
    Hope that helps!

  2. Yes Alicia the weightloss journey is a long one….and it can be hard…so stinkin hard!!!!!  You are doing the right thing to keep posting about it on your blog.  I actually like to exercise now that it has become more of a habit.  I sometimes need to get creative……like I work it into my chores around the house.  Mopping and scrubbing the floor can be a great work out.  I time myself and try to beat my mopping times.  And then run up and down the steps a few times in the middle of my mopping workout!  Also swimming is a killer workout and I bought a bike years ago and enjoying biking outside.  It seems like more of an adventure and you can go further than on a walk.
You are doing great….hang in there!!!

  3. I am so there. It's so hot that running outside is tricky and running on the treadmill is boring. I have found healthy foods that I love, but sometimes — like today — I just want to eat and eat and eat…and even healthy stuff isn't good in excess.
For the record, I'm not eating and eating and eating. But I want to.
We can do it, though. We can make the right choices because we know that they'll lead to the results that we want. "Do not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." (Gal. 6:9)
Topic ideas: How does your workout routine change when it's too hot to walk/run/bike outside? What are your best tips for breaking through a plateau — mental or physical? More recipe sharing (maybe for a specific meal). How do you stay active when life (work, school, etc.) demands more of your time?
If I think of some more, I'll come back and post them.

  4. I'm so glad you keep posting my friend!  Just remember, even the weeks where you don't get the results you'd like to see – you're still encouraging to the rest of us and that means a lot!  I think you're doing a great job!  And I totally hear you – I rebel against the whole weight loss thing all the time even though I know what I should be doing.  I know you can get back on track with the Lord's help my friend!  As far as exercise, I've always preferred dancy aerobics type of workouts because they seem more fun.  If you have Instant Netflix, you could try some on there, or maybe try renting some from the library?  Or have you tried doing Wii Fit and competing with your son?  Thanks for all your encouragment friend!  Hugs!  :)

You will feel better, be sick less often, and have more life to live, so it's worth it!  Remember you are trying to break bad habits that have been formed for a while.  It will take time, but is worth it!  Keep up the good work friend.
Possible topics:  favorite exercises, when do you workout/why?  Workout alone or with a buddy?  What factors keep you from exercising?  What factors keep you from making healthy food choices?  How does your mindset affect your healthy choices?
That's all I've got for now.
